What to Expect

Day on the Bay is a half-day kayak eco-tour launching from Tampa Bay Watch property, with trained Education staff as your guides.  The day begins with a quick kayak trip briefing and estuary overview.  Afterwards, participants will take to the water in our tandem kayaks alongside staff as we explore all the unique habitats the bay has to offer, including winding our way through a serene, natural mangrove tunnel. This journey is a great way to view the estuary from a different perspective, while hopefully getting to see some amazing plants and animals along the way!

Intermediate Level Kayak Excursion

The level of exertion during this eco-tour is substantial. Our route does include paddling across a nearby channel where the current and wind can be intense compared to calmer parts of the estuary (which we will also visit). The expectation is to be on the water for the majority of the morning, so participants should be in good health without injuries or long-standing medical conditions that may compromise well-being. This eco-tour is designed for participants who have previous kayaking experience.

Limitations and Cancellations

Our capacity for each day is 16 participants. If fewer than 6 participants register for a given day, Tampa Bay Watch reserves the right to cancel the trip due to lack of attendance. So make sure to bring a friend! Partners will be paddling in tandem kayaks, and those that attend solo will be paired with either a Tampa Bay Watch staff member or other unaccompanied participant.

The minimum age for participants is 9 years old. Any participants between the ages of 9 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tampa Bay Watch reserves the right to cancel any eco-tour based on inclement weather or water conditions, including but not limited to swift current, severe winds, or persistent rain and thunderstorms.

Cancellations will be made via Email.
