Sunset Paddle: February 25, 2021
3-6 PM
Cost: $40 per person (must register in groups of two)
What to Expect
Day on the Bay is a 2-2.5 hour kayak eco-tour launching from Tampa Bay Watch in Tierra Verde, with trained environmental educators as your guides. The day begins with a quick kayak trip briefing and estuary overview. Participants will then take to the water in our tandem kayaks as we explore the unique habitats of the bay, including winding our way through a serene, mangrove tunnel. This journey is a great way to view the estuary from a different perspective, while observing the beautiful flora and fauna that call the bay home.
Intermediate-Level Kayak Excursion
The level of exertion during this eco-tour is substantial. Our route includes paddling across a channel where the current and wind can be intense in comparison to other areas of the estuary. The expectation is to be on the water for at least two hours, so participants should be in good health without injuries or long-standing medical conditions that may compromise well-being. This eco-tour is designed for participants who have previous kayaking experience.
Limitations and Cancellations
Our capacity for each day is 20 participants. If fewer than six participants register for a given day, Tampa Bay Watch reserves the right to cancel the trip due to lack of attendance. We will be paddling in tandem kayaks and require pairs for registration, so make sure to bring a friend! Solo participants will not be permitted due to COVID-19 protocol. The minimum age for participants is 9 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Please be advised that Tampa Bay Watch reserves the right to cancel any eco-tour due to inclement weather or water conditions, including but not limited to swift current, severe winds, or persistent rain and thunderstorms.
Tampa Bay Watch is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our volunteers, visitors, and staff. In compliance with CDC guidelines, Tampa Bay Watch has implemented a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in response to the pandemic. Our goal is to reduce the potential for transmission of COVID-19, requiring full cooperation of all visitors and Day on the Bay participants. Participants will be expected to social distance and wear a face covering/mask while on property. Face coverings/masks can be removed once on the water. Registrations must be in groups of two to limit contact with individuals outside of your household. Tampa Bay Watch reserves the right to modify or discontinue eco-tours, if necessary, to maintain safe operations.
Cancellations will be made two hours prior to departure, at the latest, via email. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, a full refund will be issued.
