2015 ANNUAL REPORT
Excerpt from Peter Clark's Welcome Letter:
We were thrilled to receive optimistic news in the summer of 2015 when the Southwest Florida Water Management District released survey results that the Tampa Bay estuary now has 40,295 acres of seagrass. Along with improvement in seagrass coverage, water quality has also improved. Water quality is now as good as it was in 1950, and the bay supports as many seagrasses as it did then. These positive changes are mostly due to bay-wide nutrient reduction strategies and reduced dredging and filling activities. There is not another estuary in the country, if not the world, where we’ve seen such a dramatic improvement of water quality.
TAMPA BAY WATCH 2013-2017 STRATEGIC PLAN
5-Year Strategic Assessment
Excerpt from the Introduction:
As the Tampa Bay Watch organization entered its 20th year, the Board of Directors and Administration agreed it was time to reaffirm our formal written strategic plan. Critical to its mission, a strategic assessment for an organization provides the long term planning document where all levels of the Tampa Bay Watch organization can jointly work toward achieving our vision for the future. Development of our five-year strategic plan allows the opportunity to sharpen that vision and provide the ability to make mid-course corrections as necessary.
In order to create a comprehensive organizational assessment and involve all layers of our non-profit management and program staff in the development of the strategic planning process, Tampa Bay Watch hired an independent consultant to assist with the process. The consultant led a number of separate strategic planning sessions with the Board of Directors, program staff, and the Tampa Bay Watch Advisory Council. During these sessions, the groups explored their ideas for the future of Tampa Bay Watch. The results were brought back to the consultant and to key members of administration. Final drafts were further reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors during their regularly scheduled board meeting on July 9, 2013.
