In the spring of 2018, the Mosaic Company Foundation provided a $150,000 grant to support our community-based oyster habitat initiatives over the next two years. This new funding will focus on continuing habitat restoration in areas of the bay that will advance watershed protection, improve water quality, and advance community and youth education in the importance of valuable ecosystems that we are working to protect. Tampa Bay Watch is honored that Mosaic has chosen to invest in our community-based oyster programs in such a high-impact way. Mosaic employees also participate in our oyster shell projects. Duke Energy Foundation awarded Tampa Bay Watch a generous grant of $100,000 to support a multi-level habitat restoration program that will be showcased in our Discovery Center at the new St. Pete Pier. Duke Energy volunteers will restore a coastal habitat, which will be used as part of the "Tampa Bay Story" highlighting the recovery of the Tampa Bay estuary. Funds will also help construct a living shoreline exhibit where children and adults can use a touch-screen platform to build a living shoreline habitat.
Peter A. Clark, President of Tampa Bay Watch, Inc. states, “Tampa Bay Watch is extremely grateful to have received this generous grant from Duke Energy Foundation. We are honored that Duke Energy has chosen to invest in our second education center and exhibition hall at the new St. Pete Pier, where our citizen science programs will expand public involvement in scientific discovery.”
Tampa Bay Watch is extremely grateful to the Tampa Bay Rays and Jabil for going to bat for bay restoration and education! Tampa Bay Watch was presented with a generous $15,000 check on April 20, 2019 from Jabil and the Rays Baseball Foundation to support our mission, in honor of Earth Day and in celebration of our partnership.
Additionally, the Rays featured Tampa Bay Watch at their April 20 game vs. Boston Red Sox in honor of Earth Day through a pre-game check presentation, first pitch, radio interview, ticket sales promotion, and suite for our staff.
We salute the Rays and Jabil for being an exceptional community partners and contributing the health of Tampa Bay!
