3	4	5 Oyster Reef Ball Construction Oyster Reef Ball Construction March 5, 2025 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Tampa Bay Watch, 3000 Pinellas Bayway S, Tierra Verde, FL 33715, USA Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting 20-30 volunteers to build oyster reef balls at Tampa Bay Watch Marine Education Center, 3000 Pinellas Bayway South, Tierra Verde, FL 33715. The minimum age to participate is sixteen years old since this is a physical project which requires bending, stooping, and some heavy lifting. Click here to register to volunteer. See more details •	6 Oyster Shell Project Oyster Shell Project March 6, 2025 9:00 am - 12:00 pm MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL 33621, USA REGISTRATION IS CLOSED TO ALLOW TIME FOR MACDILL'S SECURITY CLEARANCE. Be a part of our longest-term restoration project! It'll involve shoveling fossilized shell into mesh bags and transporting them to be installed on the shoreline to create a series of oyster bars. Volunteers are encouraged to work in pairs to take turns shoveling and tying the mesh bags. In addition to shoveling, volunteers are needed to pass the bags for the installation. The minimum age to participate is 15 years old. Driver's license information (full name including middle initial, DL #, state who issued DL) is required one week prior to the project date for security clearance. This effort will help restore lost habitat by promoting new oyster growth, ultimately improving water quality and providing food sources and habitat for many species. Click here to learn more. See more details •	8 FL Shamrock Distance Classic FL Shamrock Distance Classic March 8, 2025 7:00 am - 10:00 am We're the proud charity partner of the Florida Road Races for the third year in a row! It's our role to help recruit volunteers for their races. In return, a portion of proceeds benefit the mission of TBW. The final event of 2024-25 season is the Florida Shamrock Distance Classic. The project honors CCA Florida Life Legacy member and conservationist Fred Crabill and will create oyster reef habitat in an effort to increase biodiversity, reduce erosion and improve water quality in Tampa Bay. This project marks a significant step forward in enhancing the area’s shoreline resilience and protecting vital fish habitats. The minimum age to participate is 16 years old as this is a heavy project as reef balls weigh 200 pounds each. Two people share the weight of each reef ball at a time to install it on the shoreline.
