Tarpon Rodeo

Friday, June 7th, 2024

Get ready for the thrill of the 19th Annual Tarpon Rodeo on June 7, 2024, and Get Hooked on the Silver King in this catch-and-release tournament dedicated to supporting Tampa Bay Watch. Launching from the Fort DeSoto Boat Ramp, this event combines the excitement of competitive fishing with the spirit of community fundraising. This year, we’re spicing up the competition with the addition of the Inshore Slam Division, where anglers vie to catch the big three: Snook, Trout, and Redfish. Join us in this significant effort to protect and restore Tampa Bay’s waterways, with funds raised directly supporting our scientific volunteer projects and educational initiatives. Dive into the spirit of competition and camaraderie, knowing each catch contributes to protecting and restoring the vibrant waterways of Tampa Bay.

Catch the early morning excitement at the Ft. DeSoto Boat Ramp where anglers gather to sign in, snag their limited edition tournament shirts and swag buckets, before setting off to board their boats for a day of competitive fishing.

Shotgun Start

3, 2, 1,… the tournament kicks off with a shotgun start, as boats zoom off into the bay, each crew eager to be the first to Get Hooked on the Silver King.

Chasing the Trophy

After the adrenaline-fueled start, anglers immerse themselves in the pursuit of the trophy, casting their lines with skill and patience. It’s a day marked by the camaraderie of competition and the serene beauty of the bay.

Reeling in Awards

As the competition winds down, anglers gather at Island Grille & Raw Bar to toast their efforts with cold beer and savor delicious food. It’s a time for sharing stories of the day’s catch and anticipation as the awards ceremony unfolds, recognizing the skill, perseverance, and spirit of the day’s top anglers.
